How to Make Hot Dog Burnt Ends


  • Hot Dogs – 1 Pack- any hot dog will do. The higher quality
  • the better the end result.
  • Mustard – ¼ Cup
  • Seasoning – ¼ Cup
  • Butter- 2 Tbsp
  • Brown Sugar- ½ Cup
  • BBQ Sauce – ½ Cup


  1. Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees F.
  2. Cover Hot Dogs in mustard and your favorite seasoning. I
  3. used Traeger’s Pork and Poultry seasoning for these.
  4. Place Hot Dogs on smoker and smoke for 1 hour to 90 minutes
  5. Increase smoker temperature to 350 degrees F.
  6. Remove from smoker and cut into 1.5-2 inch lengths. (Don’t forget this step or you’ll
  7. have to cut them hot like I did.)
  8. Add Brown Sugar, Butter and BBQ sauce and mix thoroughly in
  9. an aluminum pan
  10. Place back in the smoker and cook for another 30-45 minutes
  11. stirring occasionally.
  12. Remove from smoker and place toothpicks in as many burnt
  13. ends as you can for easy dishing.
